In a strategic move to booster economic growth and enhance energy security, the Federal Government, recently convened a crucial high-level meeting at the Federal Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja to  expedite the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (Pi-CNG) Initiative.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director, Information and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed Manga. The move was also consistent with a key effort of the government aimed at delivering affordable and sustainable energy solutions to Nigerians.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, articulated the initiative’s core objective: to provide Nigerians with cost-effective and sustainable energy alternatives while alleviating the economic repercussions of recent policy adjustments. During the meeting, Minister Edun underscored the necessity of strategic planning and robust coordination to accelerate the implementation of the Pi-CNG. He highlighted that the success of the initiative hinges on well-organized efforts and effective execution. The meeting was attended by a distinguished group of stakeholders, including; Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning- Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance- Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang, CEO of the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI)- Representatives from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The high-level dialogue marks a pivotal moment in the country’s efforts to navigate the impact of recent policy changes and sets a clear path towards a more secure and sustainable energy future. It also signifies a substantial advance in achieving the objectives of the Presidential CNG Initiative, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering economic stability and energy resilience.
